i’d like to know how i can make my own “coffee” collander. it appears to be made of hanger wire and cloth material. what material works best for my project – as you do with the soy bean drink for example?
Pecto: So sorry, I don’t how to make a coffee filter as I bought mine from a shop selling kitchenware in the wet market. Maybe you can go to a textile shop and ask the shop seller for muslin cloth (thick and closely-woven cotton) or any other materials that are suitable for straining / squeezing purposes. Hope it helps.
Flyn: I’m using Rowenta Gourmet Pro table top oven (with fan) now. So far it meets my expectation. I’m not sure about other brands but my advice is get a big oven with fan so that you can bake more things such as roast chicken, making pizza etc (besides cakes and cookies). Here is a discussion thread about recommendation for oven from Kiasu Parents’s members – http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7448. Hope this helps.
Mi: I started with Cornell electrical mixer because I need “help” to beat my cream when making non baked cheesecake. I still use it for making cakes and cookies. After learning how to make pizza and bread, I need “help’ again for kneading dough. So, I picked KA. I bought it at a deep discount during Tangs sales. It can be used for cake, cookies and bread. I guess it depends on individual requirement.
I was thinking what should I use to replace the pineapple pastry press if I don’t have one, and I could not think about anything so I would appreciate if u can help.
Benjamin: You can try to roll the pastry into a flat sheet, cut into long strips and then divide into small length. So you can place the pineapple jam on top and roll it up. Hope it helps! Happy trying!
Phoebe: When choosing a table top oven, it is good to buy a large one as you can try more things such as roasting a chicken. Look for a reliable brand and check for its functionality. I am using Rowenta oven for all the baking dishes I shared in this blog. I haven’t tried out other brands so I can’t comment on that. It is wise to do a survey first before deciding on the model. Hope it helps!

Where did you get your custom made Pineapple roll pastry press?

May I know the mixer type you use? Should we invest on expensive mixer like KitchenAid to do a good job?
