This is great! Looks like steamed eggs..I can’t tell that it’s actually mashed beancurd and fish paste!! 🙂
My MIL and mother prefer to use fingers to mix everything when cooking this dish. They said, “口感好!“(nice chewy texture).

Hi,
May I know where can I get the fish paste?
From the fish stall, if yes, what kind of fish should I get?
or from those stall selling fish ball?
Many thanks. Would love to cook this for my son.
Jacqueline: You can buy ready made fish paste from either wet market (stall selling fish balls) or supermarket. But I personally prefer to make it myself. You can give it a try based on the step-by-step tutorial in my previous post: https://food-4tots.com/2008/10/29/how-to-make-smooth-springy-fish-paste/.
Hope this helps!
Thank you. Thanks for the prompt response.
Loves your website.
Jacqueline: You’re always welcome! Thanks for your kind compliment. 😉
What is fish paste in chinese call?
Karyn: In Chinese, it calls 鱼胶。
Are u using the soft or hard beancurd?
Adeline: Soft beancurd is a better choice. 🙂
Wonder if can be made without egg?
Haslinda: Yes, sure you can. Taste and texture will be differ. You have to readjust the seasoning accordingly. 🙂
