Serve: 2
Ingredients:
2 large fully ripen mangoes (about 430g) – peeled, removed and cut into chunks
8 tbsp plain yoghurt (note 1)
4 tbsp milk (preferably chilled)
6 small ice cubes (or crushed ice)
3 tbsp honey (more or less, depending on the type of mango)Method:
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Adjust the sweetness if necessary. Pour into individual glasses and serve immediately. If not, keep in the refrigerator for later consumption. Best to be consumed within a day.Notes:
- I used Greek style yoghurt which is creamier than normal yogurt.
- You can learn how to cut a mango from THIS LINK.
- If your blender is not suitable for crushing ice, then you have to crush them first by putting the ice cubes into a plastic bag and crush roughly with a mortar or rolling pin.
- Choose mango that is fully ripen, sweet, fragrant and less fibrous. I used Thailand honey mangoes.
I remember trying a Mango Lassi for the first time. My eyes nearly popped out of my head it was so smooth and creamy and fruity….and so beautiful. I haven’t had one in a long time but I do love them! Welcome home from your trip and I hear you about the heat and humidity!
Thyme (Sarah): Yeah, you’re so right. Like you, I haven’t had one for a long time. I’m so glad that I finally made it at home. 😉

hi, just curious, what honey are u using?
there are too many types of honey out there in the market, after contemplating for so long (months) i still haven’t got to purchasing yet.
thanks 🙂
Shia: I am using NuZeaBee 100% Pure New Zealand honey (no water added). You can find it at NUTC. A photo of it: https://redmart.com/nuzeabee-100-pure-new-zealand-honey.html. Hope it helps!
thanks!
what about manuka honey? ever consider it?
what about organic honey?
u have any idea? 😀 thanks
Shia: Manuka and organic honey are more expensive. If your budget allows, go for it. But, I’m not sure which brand is good. So sorry about that. 😉
yes indeed they are. hence i still ended up with nothing yet. has been lingering in my mind for months about introducing honey to ds. anyway, thank u very much for sharing =)
Shia: How old is your child? If he is below one year old, it’s better to stay away from honey as it’s not safe. You can read more about from here: http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/infantbotulismhoney.htm.
he’s 30 months old. I’ve been procrastinating, couldn’t decide which honey to get hence dragged till now. 🙂
Shia: I think you can try NuZeeBee brand for cooking and baking. 😉
Can this drink be created with a variation of any fruit? For instance, can I replace the mango with a peach and still get a delicious beverage? I love mango but I currently only have peaches! But this sounds so delicious I have to try it!
Sara: Although I haven’t experimented with other fruits, your idea sounds interesting. No harm giving it a try since peaches are in season. 😉
I’m so glad I came across this on tastespotting! (And a bit behind in the game, it seems–I read the Father’s Day bit and thought for a crazy moment that I’d completely mistaken the date!) My roommate has bestowed her old blender upon me, and I can’t wait to continue going overboard (*cue diabolical laughter*) with it with this mango lassi. And your boxes are absolutely gorgeous!
Ala: Thanks for dropping by!! So sorry to confuse you with a back-dated post. I’m sure you will going to love your new toy (old blender). Let’s this simple drink be your maiden attempt. 😉
It looks like so yummyy!! Can’t wait to give to ms. I guess I need to wait a couple of months since he’s still 10. At least that what I got from this article about when to give honey to babies
Sarah: Yes, he needs to stay away from honey until he reaches one. 🙂
